Does anyone have any pics of Hosta seed pods they could post? I don't know if I know what I am looking for. I think I have a few on some of my Hostas but not completely sure.

Thanks!

Ok! Great! Thanks Paul! That's what they look like. Hurray! This is the first time I have tried to cross pollinate any of my hosta's. I am excited to have gotten some seed pods! Thank You!

Leave them on the plants until they start to go brown and begin to split. Then I take them in an let them dry out on paper plates. The seeds will be black and papery. Some crosses germinate freely and others not so much.

Will do. They are not as big as the one's in your pics yet but they look the same. How soon do you germinate them or do you store them in the fridge or anything?

Those are close-ups so yours may be as big. Hosta seed, in my experience, does not need a chilling period. I have planted them in containers in Jan or Feb and covered the container with plastic wrap or put the whole works into a plastic bag. My seed starts to germinate in about a month and as they grow on I remove the cover.

Thanks for the info! I will do some research on it also. Just wanted to make sure I knew what I was looking at first, lol and to see if any of my attempts at pollinating had worked.

I am glad that you gave the author for your quote line as it is often mistakenly attributed to Mandela because he used it in a speech to the United Nations.
