Wonderful Jennifer. My favortes are also the framed ones. I love the contrast of the wood color with the green semps. I also love how full the frames are. Great work.

Thank you! I built them myself Smiling That was my first attempt at mitering which actually turned out ok considering . Then I stained them with rusty nails and vinegar instead of commercial stain. I didn't want to do anything harmful to the babies.

You've done a great job! Hubby won't let me get near any cutting tools except scissors. There's enuff family members missing finger parts. I had to put in orders for frames that he cut.

Chris, I. LOVE the rusty nail and vinegar stain! It takes differently on different types of wood, have you tried "prestaining" with coffee or tea? It's fabulous!!

As I have never heard of this, can you tell me how it is done? Just put the rusty nail into some vinegar and wait then use as stain?

Jennifer, I haven't tried those pre-stains, but I bet it works great. Thanks for the tip!

Jennifer, your teeny gardens are absolutely beautiful! If my tiny seedling semps make it through the winter and continue to stay miniatures, I now know I have use for them. Mother Michaela has been looking up hypertufa (sp.?) and printed out several pages on making containers, so making tiny containers for tiny semps will no doubt be a winter project.

Thank You! for sharing! MR

MR - there is also some info on making things similar in the "containers" forum...http://garden.org/thread/view/26014/Cloth-and-Cement/?offset= this one is especially nice, and you can make it in different sizes!
Cheers

I don't know -- they look weird to me -- like something you'd find in the Addams Family home... Sticking tongue out
