Which is smaller, mini or dwarf?

I'm looking for tiniest cultivars, but I like the hosta that is blue or pure white, with white flowers, do small cultivars come in these colors?

I believe dwarf is smaller than mini. You can go to www.hostalibrary.org to see Don Rawson's list of hostas including sizes and color. Nice site and nice list...

Dwarf grow up to 4" and miniature are 4" to 6".
Small are 6" to 10".

Keith, if you want these for spring, I will send you a list of dwarf and mini hostas that I will have available in spring.

The list would be helpful, I'm not sure when I want to buy, I just want to look at them all and narrow down to something I want.

I don't believe that the American Hosta Society recognizes any category called "Dwarf". For them it is just "mini". However, as we know, the size of a mini hosta can vary widely. But I think for many people the terminology is interchangeable and if people use both, they generally think of "dwarf" as being smaller.

I used Van Wade's catalogue as my source.
