Oh my, Cinda - that looks like a nightmare to me, but happy you have the space to relocate them. My approach on 'nuisance' animals (for me, beavers) is I wouldn't want to thrust them on anyone else so we just trap them. Perhaps that is short-sighted. In any case, bravo to you and happy coons.

My philosophy is live and let live whenever possible , I figure they were here first .
The 4 acres over the hill along the creek have been left to wilderness and is kind of an unofficial green way . From the Google air view you can see everyone leaves the bottom land go wild, both farmers and homeowners.
Indiana has some official ''green ways '' to give wildlife some room to migrate . WE have so much farm land animals get isolated in small pockets and too many end up on the roads.

Tomorrow I will be getting some cooper's hawks. I will try for a photo but they shoot out of the cages at a very high rate of speed , a sight to see but hard to photograph.

Cinda - I essentially agree with your philosophy -- but the 'whenever possible' part kind of stumps me. My beavers tend to flood out our lower road to the point we lose access to about 10 acres of woodlot. We recently invited the conservation folks in to see what they might be able to do, but haven't heard back yet. Since we obviously have beaver-rich habitat, I'd sure like to cohabitat if we can.

Oh I do understand sometimes it is just not possible to co-habitat, and you have to take things into control , after all I have not found wild animals willing to compromise Smiling

We have some beavers on our creek , but they don't seem to dam around me , although I have had to put wire around several bank trees to keep then from being food. They can be very destructive animals.

They are quite cute and unusual looking. I am sure my impressions come from TV , but are they herd (group) animals?
I hope he can find a family.

Cindy, you can get large groups of Greys. But you do see them singly. They are a forest animal and don't occur in the large numbers like the outback species.

Numbers can build up sometimes and people start to get nervous. But you can get some awful people. Two years ago there was a well known group at a northern seaside. Some creep ran most of them over by driving off the road and chasing them down in parkland with his car.

How sad, our tendency to destroy ,it is not just confined to our own species.

I was suppose to get some Opossums this fall , but they must have been too small for release. The leaves have begun to fall here , cold will not be far behind.
