Welcome to British Gardening!
The UK is extremely diverse in its Horticulture and native flora. From the Scilly isles off the coast of Cornwall where Mesembryanthemums and palms grow in abundance, to Culzean Castle in Scotland that has the Chilean firebush Embothrium coccineum growing in its grounds. Then down to the southeast and into Kent which is the garden of England, and back up to the wonderful soils of Norfolk and Lincolnshire. From there up to the bleak moors of Yorkshire, where nothing grows but heather and the odd bilberry, to the east coast of Scotland with its harsh winters, yet still has magnificent Botanical gardens in Edinburgh.
For gardeners the UK is a mixture of the finest Horticulture & History, with medieval gardens that are 908 years old, to Tudor gardens like at Hampton Court Palace 1514. We do have modern gardens as well like Waddesdon Manor 1874 which has a French Chateau on the top of a hill, with stunning gardens. Of course there are very modern gardens that can be seen at the Chelsea Flower Show, or indeed the Worlds Biggest Flower Show at Hampton Court!
For you real lovers of gardens and History, there is of course the first President of the United States George Washington's ancestral home at Sulgrave Manor which was built in circa 1500. This Tudor Manor House has amazing gardens, which are fully authentic.
We have four Royal Parks in London alone, I worked at Greenwich which was walled as a Royal Park in 1433. The list is endless, for the British have always been a Nation of gardeners.
I hope you enjoy your visit, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Regards.
Neil.

Hi Neil,

Are the pictures in the top post of your own garden? It looks amazing and no weeds. Mine looks good when its just been weeded but that lasts about 5 minutes and as for neat edging on the lawn... it seem to be like painting the Forth Bridge - never ending.

Great looking new forum well done.
Carol

Dear Carol, no not my Garden but Hampton Court Palace which was home to King Henry VIII. It was built in 1514 and is stunning, as are the Gardens. Hopefully my Article about the flower show there, which is the worlds biggest will be out soon.
Regards.
Neil.
