A few years back, we took out all the grass (front and back) and I've never had a moment of regret. No more pushing a lawn mowers, edging, fertilizing or worrying about weeds. This is what I wanted in my retirement. We can just sit and relax. We smile when now and then we hear other peoples' mowers. Then it's time for a glass of wine perhaps and more smiles !!! Hurray!

Elfie - How cozy looking! I like the colors of the chairs. Nice contrast.

What did you replace all the grass with? Pavers?

I, too, am slowly removing most of my grass. Big Grin

Yes, we took all the grass out and my husband put all the pavers down. This allowed me to indulge in using some big pots and creating that garden room.
The resin "wicker" furniture is fairly old and it was quite faded, so I spray painted it with Krylon plastic paint in a maroon color, which did come out lighter.

Elfie - How nice! Do you mind me asking how big of an area this was?

And I would love to see more photos of your paver garden areas!

I will check out my photos and post them. I do know that the "courtyard", as we call it, has approx. 2,500 pavers. It's quite a large area, very shady, with a large oak tree and an Orange Jasmine tree. I have a couple of different seating areas out there. My husband says he is very sure about that number as it took a couple of months, working on it only on weekends. This was before he retired.
The photo I posted is in the corner where the Orange Jasmine tree is located.

This is very interesting! I look forward to seeing more photos!

No estimated footage of the courtyard area? My backyard is quite large and it would take a LOT of pavers to cover the ground. I can't even fathom doing that! My lot is a standard 80' x 125' lot here in Sebastian.

What a cool and relaxing area that is! I love the colors. I've no idea what an Orange Jasmine tree is like but it sounds like it would have a wonderful smell.

When my young kids are older, I hope to get rid of my lawn and create an edible and visual paradise. Until then I will start a mental file of ideas and inspiration.

We just bought a house with .61 acres. 1/2 is wide open sun and the other half is a pine forest.

My property with house is a quarter of an acre. I would love to have half an acre or more! Sounds like a great plan, Anderwood!

I love pavers and your corner of paradise is no exception.
My husband pointed out a garage sale to me a few years ago. We still laugh about it. They had 300 8 pound, 100 year old pavers for sale. They used to line Jefferson Ave in downtown Detroit in the 1800's. I didn't hesitate for a nano-second. I got them loaded, unloaded, stacked, and finally paved a walkway part way around the house. I smile every time I walk the walk.

I wonder how @orchidgal faired through Hurricane Matthew? She may have had mandatory evacuation.

Kathy - loved your old historical paver!

A garden room can also vary in style, from the bright, actual designs to the more traditional and homely. My friend lives in the Palm Beach area and he wants to buy a home with a beautiful garden room. He consulted with the real estate lawyer in palm beach by taking a reference from this site coomberlaw.com/residential-real-estate/. The Lawyer from Coomber Law Firm assists him to find a home with a beautiful garden room. After a week he bought his new home with an amazing garden room. In the summer, with the garden room inside the house looks extra-gorgeous.

I have a picture which is almost similar to his garden room.

I see there is a glass on the end table with some sort of concoction in it. Whistling
