Yesterday, I visited a biotope of Sempervivum arvernense in Ponsas located opposite of the cemetery, in the department of Drôme, France.
This station has the particularity to be located east of the Rhone (left bank), while the distribution of this species (or subspecies of tectorum ) is located on the Massif Central (so west of the Rhone).

The photographic conditions were appalling. I made the visit in a violent storm. In addition the station is squatted by the Opuntia humifusa (non-native plant) covering the rocks and certainly involved in choking houseleek.
Sempervivum are very rare, but the weather was very bad and the importance of the population was difficult to appreciate.

Great photos Chromo. But so sad to see the opuntia taking over the sempervivum.
I have added the new entry to the database, would you like to add the photos to the entry? Hen and Chick (Sempervivum tectorum var. arvernense 'from Ponsas')

Here you go Chromo.
Hen and Chick (Sempervivum tectorum var. arvernense 'from Ponsas')

I will go through some of the other threads and do the same, making new entries in the database.

Hmmm, can you go here and post a new thread so Dave can see this? I think he can tell you what is causing the problem.
Go to the bottom of the page and start a new thread. http://garden.org/forums/view/...

Let us know what the problem was.

How beautiful it is in cultivation, where it is tenderly cared for.
