I just picked up a couple of Heuchera Brown Sugars. How has it performed for those that have had it? I would love your input.

This was it's 3rd year. It starts off very nice each year, but does not thrive once the hot and humid weather starts. It did survive last Winter and a lot of others did not. Where did you find yours ? They seem very hard to find.

Bob

I am thrilled to hear they survived that horrible winter. I lost so many things last year, that I now question how hardy some plants truly are. I was quite surprised to lose some of my phlox.

Given what you have said about the heat and humidity, I will plant them in deep shade. I will be redoing some of my beds next spring and some of my shade beds are on that list.

The plants I picked up are gorgeous 1 gallon plants. I was only going to get 1 until I found out they are $3.25 each at Lowes. I don't know if you are in FB, but I have a picture of my plants on it. https://www.facebook.com/carol.... Lowes had a few others, but I already have those, so I did not bother with them.

I did get involved with a co-op that will be in the spring of 2015 that has all different colors of the heuchs. They will need to be babied, however - I was looking for a number of them. Mamajack (Barb) on Cubits.org is having the co-ops. http://cubits.org/notfortheser...

I was also looking at Mamajack , but have not decided yet. Plugs are so hard to raise from the 72 count size. I am not on FB. If you get a chance add them to the database.

Bob - the probelm is the photos are on my phone. Let me see what I can do.

I agree about the size and I have lost many that size, however - I ordered about 20 of just the heuchs, so I can imagine what full price would be. Blinking

We have not had our first frost yet. Fingers crossed we have a mild winter. I potted up all my new purchases last week. I am going to grow them in pots on the patio with rose bushes. I am going to try growing them in pots to replace buying annuals every year.

I checked my Lowes and the only Herc they had was Melting Fires. I had picked up two in the beginning of the season so I did not buy any more.

I am hoping we dont' have as bad a winter as well. I healed in my heuchs and several other plants last weekend. Seems I heal something in every year.

We have not had a frost yet. I would prefer it stay as mild as possible as long as possible.

We are all hoping for that , but all I hear is that it will be colder and start sooner then last year. Only good thing is that they are saying not quite as much snow. But compared to last year not quite as much could still be a lot.

Cold and no snow is what kill the plants. But you know I would rather have dead plants than to have to shovel twice a day to get out of my driveway.
