Name: josephine Arlington, Texas (Zone 8a) Hi Everybody!! Let us talk native.
Well, the list that Catmint provided is very nice, but it includes plants such as African daisy and many others not native to the U.S.
I guess that a plant doesn't need to be native to our area to be able to grow in the wild, but maybe we should be sticking to natives.
You can find the plants native to Kentucky here, http://www.wildflower.org/plan...

Gardening with Texas Native Plants and Wildflowers.
The tricky thing to remember when planting is not all wildflowers are native. pick flowes native to your zone when planting otherwise it could do more harm then good .
many many terrible plants were brought over and planted because they looked pretty or had some value at the time, purple loosestrife, common buckthorn and garlic mustard are primie examples in MN..
