Does anyone see any reason the Echeveria I just got would be on clearance?

Put 2 pics here:

My line of thought corresponds with Hetty - they want the space for seasonal items.

Maybe it is about to get rainy or too cold in your area..they sometimes move it to clearance, since these plants thrive better when it is sunny and dry, though my echeverias is enjoying our mild cold conditions right now, actually doing a new rosette. Plus to give way to more seasonal plants as mentioned already.

TY for the replies.

The store's a very nice mom'n'pop, with an indoor greenhouse section where such temperamental delicacies as Philodendrons live all year, and there are some plants so big and old, they don't even have price tags, a staghorn fern that would take a crane to move, and a mini garden looking for someone to plunk down $750 to own it. Other similar succulent plants were in their usual area.

Glad to hear nobody thinks it was because the plant looks bad or ill. I sure don't think so. It could be any of the above things, I won't question it anymore, just enjoy my pretty new gal. TYVM!

I have to admit that I was at a big box store to buy lightbulbs and rodent bombs but headed out to garden dept to hunt for Echeveria 'Lola' but none were to be found...They had just gotten new shipment of succulents of all sorts and no poinsettias were seen nearby. I think they cleared out the patio furniture section for the holiday plants so fresh supply of succulents were still available. They can be part of the holiday dรฉcor too, you know. They don't mind being paired with fake-snow-laden pine cones on the holiday tabletop... Whistling

I was thinking about this. It could be there were other not so nice plants placed with it and they decided to rid they selves of all the stock. Or maybe they needed the space for new stock. I have seen K-Marts through all the plants into a dumpster due to maybe 1/2 being in poor shape.

This is a totally different kind of store where plants can live for years, and the house plant section is always there. They don't sell anything but plants, pots and garden dรฉcor, some candles & gifts, books.

Some landscaping outside:

They create and sell stuff like this:

Thumb of 2014-11-26/purpleinopp/fb846c

And have decades-old plants like this as part of the ambience:

Most of what they have for house plants is leafy tropicals. So far away, wish I could visit more often! I hope poor sales isn't why this gorgeous plant wasn't regular price. There was another one. Plenty of sun in AL as long as they are kept out of most of the rain.

Looks like a lot of miniature/ fairy gardens and a larger than usual hobbit gardening? Thanks for the photos of someone's neat creations, Tiff!

One of the nurseries here had a greenhouse that had some large fern looking plant that would oddly enough, die back in the winter and be back in the Spring. I used to love going in there, tons of orchids, Sans, Pothos, you name it. They've sinced gotten ris of the greenhouse and replaced it with an area for pottery. Thumbs down I miss the plants they had in there. Sadly, their houseplant collection overall has become dismal, overpriced, and poor "quality."

It's an amazing store. Someday I'll have to check out some other parts besides the house plant house.

Planto, that just makes me wanna cry!

Purp,
We can cry together. Crying I was just reminiscing about the first houseplant I bought there, a 'Marble Queen Pothos.' I was debating between that one and a 'Neon.'

You should see what else they have. Although, you may end up with a ton more plants in the process. Hilarious!
