Thread OP

Some of you have asked if the Ed Skrocki episode of HGTV's "The Gardener's Diary" was available. Eddie was my friend for 26 years. He passed away March 23, 2010 at age 79. Eddie gave me a VHS copy of his episode that you can see at the link below:

There will be about 60 seconds of blank space between segments. So be patient until the end.

This is a photo of Eddie:

Ed Skrocki was featured on the TV show "The Gardener's Diary" in June of 1998. Self-employed as a nurseryman, Eddie was known internationally as a hybridizer of Sempervivums, and belonged to the Hosta Society and the Cedum Society of England.
He was a loyal friend and funny person be around.

Enjoy!
Tony

I tip my hat to you. Thanks for the wake-up call. Seems Sempervivum hybridizers are characters with varied interests.
Looks like he started the semp dictionary terms with semp-a-holic.

He said there are no blue semps is that still true?

Ingenious use of Venetian blinds too. Also those shingles make a nice walking surface.

Crazy Eddie and his Packards Hurray!

I really enjoyed that video. You just can't beat a "walk and talk" with a plant hybridizer.

I think I will see about contacting one of our local gardening TV shows, to see if they would do a segment on Kevin.

Bev what a good idea!! To notice the differences in approach to hybridization Smiling And the yard set up. One more natural, and one more "structured"
I love in this video where Ed says "I like to weed because it gives me a chance to look at each semp" I soo totally agree with that comment, even if my semp bed isn't needing to be weeded, one can find me sitting looking for even the smallest of weeds, so I can enjoy these little plants Whistling Hilarious!

I for one plan on watching this video again! A video about and with Kevin would be great, not just with the semps but also the other plants he works with.
