I thought it might be helpful to open a separate thread for Pacific Coast Natives.

I was researching Ghio PCNs tonight. He has so many gorgeous introductions! Drooling I will post a list with links to photos (ATP has very few photos) of some of my favorites in the next few days. In the meantime I found a relatively new website for some people who specialize in PCN, although they have a ton or photos of many of the other types of irises (note they post photos for reference even though they don't carry all of them). They also have pages with growing tips on tech of these types of irises:

Beardless Iris
Japanese Iris Culture
Siberian Iris Culture
Spuria Culture
Louisiana Iris Culture

Species Iris
Bulbous Culture
Species Culture

A person could spend days reading the information and wandering through the pages of photos on their site!

Their business is called Leonine Iris , they are located in Washington. Spend some time exploring their site when you have a chunk of time to spare. I guarantee you, you will not want to just spend a few minutes!

I'll post links to some gorgeous Pacific Coast Natives when I can, hopefully in the next few days.

I've been having trouble finding how much cold they can tolerate, although the site above did mention 10F, so I'm thinking colder than that would do them in. Can any of you confirm that?

We usually hit the high 20's, and many years ago, at my last house, we hit 15 one very cold year w/ no damage.

Joe Ghio had some nice ones in 2012:

Oh, I was just looking for that site in my bookmarks, Marilyn.. Definitely drool-worthy pictures of PCI's... And there are great pictures of Bearded Iris too.

Most of mine are older, but sweet. No names on these anymore (if I ever had them).

The Pacific natives would probably do well at our place. We have the native wild iris growing among our redwoods.

I couldn't find that Monterey Bay has a phone number or email ? I know that I got his address somehow a few years back, and I mailed a check for a few TBs and a couple PCIs, and my check was returned that the PCIs wouldn't grow here. Sad Had I had an easy contact, I would have said, let me try anyway, like I did with Superstition Iris Gardens and Arilbreds. I'm a zone pusher anyway.

Would they grow in pots? If so and you have a green house, you might get buy with them.
