Barbara here is the new thread, perhaps you could lock the old one so there is no confusion.

'Exotic Star' is quite gorgeous.

Thanks, Barb! Smiling The color came out better when I turned on the overhead light and didn't use a flash

Cat, I also find that the flash tends to wash out the color. I have Red Pearl and she is a real beauty

Denver, a pretty ruffled edged white. I was really surprised to see this lone bulb in bloom yesterday at my local grocery. I didn't already have one of this cultivar, so grabbed it quick. This scape is close to being finished, but a second one will soon be in bloom. I guess that I cheated since I didn't grow it myself but I feel good that adopted this "orphan".

Double Delicious, a red-orange double from White Flower Farms. This cultivar is spectacular and showy since almost all the buds (10) opened on the two scapes at once. A third scape is just poking up. I am really excited about this one. The color is actually more red than the photo, but digital cameras are notoriously bad on capturing reds.

Jewel of the Night from Royal Colors. A smaller flowered deep red. I have mixed feelings about this cultivar. The color is intense but as is often the case with dark reds, the massive amounts of pollen has badly stained the blooms. 24 hrs after the bloom opens the lower two petals are yellow, and the pollen is very sticky. It can't really be blown off or brushed off. Excessive pollen staining is just a pet peeve of mine. If you are trying to hybridize, lots of sticky pollen is a good thing.

Pretty Nymph from Royal Colors. This is a huge showy double. I wonder if this is actually a new cultivar. It looks very similar to Exotic Nymph which I bought a few years ago. This is really pretty!

Margaret and Catmint, thanks, looking forward to seeing your new blooms. I spent all day, learning how to use my new Xmas camera. Amaryllis are notoriously tricky subjects, since the blooms are so deep. It takes persistence to get the majority of the bloom in focus. In addition, I prefer to use outdoor sunlight for my photos, but we have been under heavy clouds since Xmas. Its too dark without a flash, but the flash distorts the colors. I must have taken 600 photos to get the few that I just posted.

Hilarious! Practice makes perfect Barbara, that's great that you got a new camera. I really struggle to get good photos in natural light as I cannot take the plants outside, they would freeze to death, photos with the sun shining on the bloom can be pretty at times but difficult to do without clutter in the background.
