Merry Christmas to all of you. May it be a wonderful day.
I can't say much for my adeniums just now. They are in the greenhouse and sulking due to the cold. There are few things more ratty looking than a cold adenium.

Merry Christmas to you gone2seed, also and everyone else here. May you have a wonderful time with family, friends and loved ones over this special time of year. Have a safe, but enjoyable New Year.
All the best,

Hurray! Hurray!

Happy New Year!!

In October I moved to a place with a great view, BUT the plants had to sit out in a cold, stiff breeze, and had to stay sitting there when a night time rain shower came by, BRRR They were suffering so that after two months, I moved again! Wow. I hired movers for the plants, four big pick up truck loads, up two steep flights of stairs! All those pink stairs! I got them down there, but...

Now I have another deck to fill with my thirty or fifty favorites, and eventually get the others out in a back corner of the sunny yard. They are stuffed into a tiny shady place now, still crying for sunlight and warmth. Poor guys, they must have been so miserable in that cold windy rain! I did lose some, they just gave up.

Mama and papa, future seeds. Do these look like different plants? I can't be sure, I bought several from Mike when he was here... I am aiming at making seeds that come true. Plus I want some plants that are fragrant. I don't care the color, I want fragrance!

OH WOW Marissa you have been busy, and all for your love of plants, well if I had been closer I would have come and watched Hurray! sorry I would not be any help, not as spry as I used to be.
Hope this move will prove to be the right one. Have a great New Year, and when you get that great smelling flower I want to buy one, or two nodding

"There are few things more ratty looking than a cold adenium." SO TRUE!! My poor plants look wretched. Yes, I can take a few lovely photos, but the whole bunch is a mess. I planted 137 +10 seeds yesterday. Oh, why??!! They are all crammed in a kitty litter tray. The ten are the double purple, just to see what blooms. The 137 are from two pods that came from my fragrant white plant. I was sitting beside it one afternoon last summer, and I could smell something sweet. To my amazement, it was this blooming single white. I crossed it with "Siam Golden Aroma" which is smelly occasionally, and not really a whole lot smelly.
.
I use coleus as a companion plant sometimes. They droop about the time the pot is quite dry. I will order some little trailing types from Rosy Dawn nurseries as soon as they start selling them in the spring. Look if you dare!!! http://www.rosydawngardens.com...

That's a great idea to use the coleus as a "barometer" to water!! Love coleus! Will have to keep that in mind!! Thumbs up
I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

OK, I'll change that. The awful red button, useless, hey? What's for??? Do I get money?

Anyway, the red button is a less intrusive blue now, need to go thank Dave...
