I always place my cuttings in water to root. You have shown me a way to get a lot more plants from one cutting!

I have lost so many with water.. I would rather use soil or an equivalent

I've lost most in water, too. But I rarely have one fail to root in potting mix.

Normally, I use the powdered Rootone when I try to root a plant. On one of the websites, think it was WhiteFlowerFarm, I think the horticulturist mentioned that she used a liquid rooting solution. I tried to read the name off the container but couldn't read it. Do any of you use a liquid, and if so, what is brand and name of it? Do you think that if I called WFF that they would tell me the name/brand of what they use? Liquid or gel seems a lot simpler than the powdered Rootone.

oh geeze.. I bought a liquid rooting hormone a few years ago in a co-op and don't know the name.. it was a concentrate that you can change the strength depending on what you are rooting.. and it's only good for 10 hours after diluting it or something like that.. I used a teaspoon and used a 1 to 10 ratio for the coleus.. stuff is going to last me forever .. will see if I can find it
