February came roaring in with snow and wind. The SU went and plowed enough to go and feed, but said he wasn't doing any more till it was done, since with the wind he'd just have to do it all over again.

The neighbor has a heifer he'd better come and get tomorrow.........she's bagging up and getting tight in the rear udder, and this morning has belly edema that she didn't have yesterday. I told him yesterday it might be a good thing if he could get her, but all his help was otherwise occupied. Wouldn't have hurt him to hook up the trailer and bring it over, as both the SU and I were here. Oh, well..........just don't want a calf on MY watch, since all the shelter there is is an open front shed.

I'm glad the woodpile is big; weather like this makes it shrink in a hurry, even tho we have an efficient furnace.

I am anxiously awaiting spring and the grass that she brings. With the days still quite short, I feel like all I do lately is feed animals. Our winter grasses came in well, but they can't keep up with all the grazing mouths, so I am feeding grain twice a day to the racehorse pensioners and hay to everyone. Even the chickens seem to be consuming more than the usual amount of feed. I guess the bug population is lacking too; their pasture still has plenty of grass.

Oh yes, pasture for the animals will be a big help on the feed bills.

Here is some of our snow. Pffftttt.............Taken from my kitchen towards the barn, towards the greenhouse, and then the machine shed/shop. They might not be in that order, but I think you can figure it out. LOL

We will be auctioning the cows February 25. Not sure how I feel yet, although it is what we need to do.

Kathleen, you will FINALLY have a life............ask me how I know this. I can care for the grandkids when DS#2 needs some "childcare". We can go places and thumb out noses at choretime...............we can go OVERNIGHT and not worry...............

Neighbor came and got his springing heifer yesterday. Whew! Glad she is out of here, I was beginning to worry a bit.

Snowing again.........oh, yay!

Good that she went home before she had a calf!

Anna, you are still one busy lady. You always seem to have a job lined up that needs doing.

I have the Equity job Monday and Wednesdays and the third Saturday of the month. Then on the 4th Friday I do papers at another sale barn, just 5 miles from here. Keeps me out of mischief, I guess. Green Grin!
