Well...the cuttings I made of the stictocardia last fall..rooting nicely as it is such a strong grower..some are maybe 12 ft long now..from an 8 " cutting back in November... A few have had flowers already.. Such a joy with the snow and ice on the other side of the window

It is fantastic. I had it but did not have room to overwinter it.

So pretty Gordon!
Do you keep it under lights in the winter or just the light from the window?

I had one for a few years and never saw flowers. Lost it to forgetting to bring it inside in time for winter... Whistling

Yes Joseph.. Mine I left out too.. It was too big.. I just made a few cuttings that are pictured blooming...
Ronnie...they are mostly just in the window..although they do get a little indirect light from a 400 watt metal halide light... I grew it out from seed one year... And never got a bloom..maybe like wisteria not all seeds bloom... This one was a cutting last spring... And grew over 500 ft of vines with surely twice as many buds and flowers... once they get flowering age cuttings will often flower quickly.. As there's some sort of memory as to the task at hand

I love those .. gotta find me a new house and bigger greenhouse .. there are so many things I desperately want to grow and have the seeds for but not the proper place.

Well...Ann. You can just move further south..and do away with the need for a greenhouse all together....good luck with your house search...

I really want to stay in this area as my brother is only 90 miles away .. I've been house hunting for over a year now - my neighborhood is getting scary plus my younger sister will be moving in with me when she retires in about a year so I need a much bigger house. She's mentally challenged so I am wanting a somewhat protected place in the middle of a safe, established neighborhood .. I'm in no great hurry so I can be picky. What I'm looking for is a 4 BR 2 B house on a minimum of half and up to one acre with no HOA or landscaping restrictions. I came pretty close on Friday to finding the perfect place. The house was awesome on half acre but when I walked around to the backyard discovered it was on a very steep slope. No place for a greenhouse and impossible for me to mow. You'd never know it from the front of the house.

More an more houses are coming on the market .. hopefully I'll find something soon.

Yes in looking myself the HOA and landscaping restrictions are the first disqualifying item... I would never consider anything with such rules..you have to get out into the countryside to avoid them... Most of house hunting sites don't include such information in the listings... they do give a fairly compleat array of available places though.. You can search by a number of features and weed out ones that aren't suitable...

Ok..declared time to put things out...,I'd taken a few cuttings in November...put them in the window..one of the plants had over 20 ft of main vine..with a 20 ft piece that had an injury...and a 10 ft bit of vine on one of the cuttings..call it 50 ft of vines since say the first of December when they had rooted..in the five months on the window sill... That's about 150 days.....or about 4" of vine produced every day..under these less than favored conditions...inside in the winter
