I have one Dorstenia gypsophila seedling that is developing very nicely.

My Pachypodium horombense rotted most of the way but the top was good.
I coated the bottom with a mixture of cinnamon and rooting hormone. Then I potted it in pure perlite.



I pruned the top off of one of my Pachypodium densiflorum here are pics of the process.




The last pic is the cutting I'm going to root.

I bought a braided money tree (Pachira aquatica) I separated the five plants into their own pots. I'm going to let them fatten up and then put them in a bonsai pot as a forest planting.

I also made my first order from out of Africa. I ordered an Pachypodium cf eburneum and Pachypodium densiflorum var brevicalyx B. I've tried both of these from seed but wasn't successful so I decided to just get plants this time.

Nice Dorestenia. I still haven't managed to convince the succulent guy at Tropiflora to part with a gorgeous specimen there, but I'm still working on him. Those are marvelous plants. How old is that plant, Adam?

Oh but I know the price tag on that big Dorstenia at Tropiflora

Mine was only $25 because it was a rooted cutting.

Also my Pachypodium horombense didn't make it. Well it didn't make it.
The mistake I made was putting it in a pot too large and then watering it when it had no leaves. Well we learn from our mistakes.

Yes Hetty, there are two dorstenias gigas there....one is the in the way, way back where my Uncarina trees are being held for me until I can pick them up...Ray is VERY territorial about that stuff but there's a few smaller fellows in a different greenhouse that aren't as $$$$....except they are behind that blasted orange snow fence that means, "Not For You!"

OMG your Eburneum is so so adorable. Nice looking cactipes, too!

I'm unsure of when to start watering. They have no leaves. So I think they're dormant. When I watered my Pachypodium horombense when it had no leaves to try to bring it out of dormancy it rotted.
So should I wait until they grow leaves?
I want to be extra careful with these.

I think most Pachys are winter-dormant so should not be watered. You can probably find this information online for specific species.

Various sources say that the roots of caudiciforms should not be allowed to completely dry out and that this can cause trouble later in the year.
The mistake I made with the Pachypodium horombense was that I started giving it full waterings.
With the ones I just got in I will wait until Tuesday and start spraying the surface of the potting medium every two weeks until they break dormancy.

What do you think?

Misting is the answer I think. Keep them moist but not wet.

Don't water if they're dormant. It isn't water that triggers them out of dormancy, it's sunlight and warmth. If you allow the roots to dry out THEN water, they will surely rot. Keep the medium slightly moist on top to prevent total evaporation but never water all the way through. It is not easy when they're in little pots like this. I have a long PDF on Pachypodium culture if you want me to email it to you.

Some more updates.

I not sure if this is Pachypodium ambongense or Pachypodium lamerei.

I want to keep all my succulents as miniature to medium bonsai.So I prune them to get the shapes I want.
I cut the top off to force it to branch. Here are some before and after pics.
