I sowed my dragon wing begonias in early September. They were still tiny little things when I dropped the tray yesterday and they were a total loss. Bummer. Too late to start over.

Oh no! So sorry. I have done that with Lisianthus last year.

I must have planted mine too late because they are barely specs on the soil.

Oh dear!---- we all do things like that.
Can you, perhaps, purchase some at a garden center?
It is not the same as raising your own from seeds, but sometimes we all do buy plants.

The Dragon Wings are hard to find locally, I find. I generally only see them sold as badly overgrown, rootbound hanging baskets.

Maybe I'll order a few online, but that's pretty expensive, so I won't buy as many as I would have grown from seed. Or, I'll use wax begonias in my front yard instead, which are generally widely available, cheap, and bullet proof.

Could you buy one of the root bound hanging baskets and use it to take cuttings?
I am not sure if that would work time wise?

Right, time would likely be an issue.

No, I wouldn't even think of it! But thanks so much, Julia.

I just hate when I do stupid, clumsy things.

Sigh, we all do clumsy things. And probably think "stupid!" But it happens. Sorry it had to happen to your poor little begonias. Sad
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

I do think they're about the prettiest annual and easiest to grow.

So sorry, Karen. I know you grow these every year. Hopefully you will find something to take their place.

Planting seeds proves you believe i
Believe me it is far worse to lose a tray of begonia seedlings from a rare cross you have finally managed to get in order to create a new hybrid, or of a rare species which has finally produced seed. I have gone to my knees to sift the dirt to recover some of them!
