Just trying to wake up my old ones. I forced them to have a dry rest in late Fall, still in their old soil, but inside our garage, no sun. They enjoyed the weekend rains we have. I guess that is the nearest tropical feel they will ever get here. Just keeping an eye out if there are nasty slimy snails/slugs lurking.

While they were in a dry rest in our garage: all in one container

Saw new leaf growth in mid January, so repotted in 22Jan2015:
The bulbs after removing from old container: not bad, some new younger ones, older ones feels just the right plumpness:

Repotted into three containers: 1 clay pot, re-using old plastic container and just tossed some at my old dahlia container:

After the rains of these past weekend:

I was also experimenting on one amaryllis bulb that I have kept in its original soil container, all throughout winter but indoors; gave it its version of dry rest, but nearer our sunny window, so it was able to keep its green long leaves, now I have it outdoors too, since I see the other bulbs are okay already with our prevailing temps:

I am also still maintaining one amaryllis in its glass container with clay rocks, grown indoors. It has its own thread, that is where I post ongoing updates.

Wonderful bulbs! Tarev. I see there are many baby bulbs with their own roots. Were they still held on to mother bulbs when you took them out from old soil? If so, how did you decide to separate from mother bulb? and how did you separate them? Thanks
If a plant looks good, smells good, don't eat it, grow it!

Some got separated on their own when I dug in..one which is more matured than the other babies, held nicely to mommy bulb. I would have wanted all the babies still with mommy, but that's okay, it will just grow on its own, so I do not expect blooms from the smaller ones, just want it to grow new leaves so it can add more energy and let baby bulb grow more.

Just updating my amaryllis. The weather is much nicer now too, warm and warmer. There were some snail attack a few weeks ago but it is controlled now..have added some snail baits. Just some minor leaf damage.

I have poured some left over coffee on them a couple of days ago..seems not to bother them..plus I added the used coffee granules into the soil. So far seems okay.

Thankful this noid Amaryllis is taking its sweet time to open up..otherwise it would have been demolished by the strong winds already..hopefully things will get a bit more settled tomorrow and a bit more warm-up. And the wait continues Smiling

Isn't it amazing that so much top growth came out of such a little bulb. I never ceased to be surprised by that. Won't be long before it opens.

My amaryllis blooms are done now..so will just let the plants enjoy summer as much as they can. One thing I learned for this year, they do enjoy the used coffee grounds. I like learning something new Smiling
