I love the contrast of real red Coleus planted along with Dusty Millers, always pretty, and they both grow about as tall,
here in Nebraska I actually had Dusty Miller come up again the next year, I think maybe because it was in a protected
area and LOL, by the dryer vent.

That sounds like a neat combo to grow.
Here they are both annuals.
They would be nice together in a container.

They are annuals here as well, except that one year last season the Dusty Millers came up and looked great. Yes,
is is a beautiful color combo.

I always liked red geraniums with dusty miller, always a striking contrast, especially the old red perfection series of cutting geraniums.

I had to Google those, Geraniums I recognized the Artemesia I did not, I guess I have lots to learn here, I am not good at the
real names, just the common names of plants. Bet that would be pretty to do a grouping of reds with the Dusty Millers,
I am getting cabin fever, want it to be planting season...and here I best wait until the very end of April, last year on April
4th or so it snowed, I remember it was around my husband`s birthday week.

I had thought of taking cuttings last year, changed my mind because of the bad luck I had with so many attempts on the Coleus, so I threw in
the towel and decided just buy again...but good for you! I tip my hat to you.

I have pretty good luck with cuttings, although I've used different mediums for different plants. I don't hardly ever start with water going straight to vermiculite, soil, sand, and Oasis for the tough to start ones. Oasis is the green foam used for cut flowers.

That is a new tip for me----using Oasis for cuttings!
Thank you!

Oasis works well for me when I'm starting Persian Shield, Strobilanthes dyerianus. It's the only way I've had success. It makes sense though, Oasis is designed to keep flowers fresher and in top shape longer, so I just experimented with cuttings.

What is Oasis normally used for? It's the first I've heard of it.

As Eric says-it is the green foam blocks,--
which florists and flower arrangers use to keep the flowers moist and fresh longer.
