I have posted images of both and both plants were labeled as Alcantarea in Fairchild bot gardens - it seems they were reclassified as Alcantareas. Alcantarea is stated as synonym in DB. Shouldn't it be reversed then?
Nope, according to the Catalog of Life, which in this case is deriving its information from Kew, Vriesea odorata and Vriesea imperialis are the accepted names,
