I would like to add this pic to the DB, but what is the name of this part of the plant?? The buds and bloom emerge from under the "petals" of the "rose" for lack of a better description.
Each cloud has a silver lineing if only you look for it.

It is Justicia carnea AKA Jacobinia...I got it at Lowes last year.

I usually see them referred to as "bracts."

FYI, If your plant has the chocolate/purplish colored bracts and leaf-undersides then you may have the 'Huntington' form. The flowers are also a deeper pink. Smiling
