My Cottage Garden,..becomes very full from June to October but that was the plan,..i wanted to be enveloped by flowers when in the garden,..all plants are from seeds or cuttings with the odd plant given as a present.

Welcome to ATP.

Your gardens are stunning! I love all the photos that you have included and would love to see more.

I was wondering what the yellow with the red was that is flowering in the upper part of picture #6.

Hi Carolyn,

We get approx 200 days of rain here and a fairly mild Winter so just about anything can be grown,..not forgetting Moss and Ferns which are a constant sight,..ah that yellow and red flower is Cytisis scoparius,'Scotch Broom',..there are several type of blooms from just plain yellow to a mix of red colours with yellow,..the most pronounced red is my one which was from a cutting some 11 years ago.

Some more pictures for you and a video of August in the garden,..have coffee in hand as its the whole month of August.

Thanks for sharing == very pretty. I always try to keep a little section of my garden as an "English Cottage Garden" - lots of flowers and color. Doesn't always work in the Florida climate, but for a while it does before I have to replace with more climate and zone appropriate plants. For a while though, I get my bit of England going. Does that count, even though you live in Ireland ?

Hi Deborah,
Thank You! for the Welcome! ,..you just started me off on smilies .

Hi Elfie,
i can well understand the struggle to keep a Cottage Garden in Florida,..its that effect one likes to see no matter where one lives,..of course not everyone likes the Cottage Garden but to each their own,..oh yes the English Cottage Garden would be the same as the Irish Cottage Garden,..Hollyhocks,Delphiniums,Rose Bushes,Herbs and the like,..my Dad and his friends had Cottage Gardens and they never purchased plants,..it was a garden from swapped seeds and cuttings,..grafting and cross breeding its what i stick to myself.

Thank you for viewing the video.

Hi Carolyn,
Thank you for viewing the video,..some of them can be a tad long as i do run away with myself when taking pictures of blooms,..i can stick them all into a month in the garden quicker than posting and i know where to find them years later.

Hi Vickie,..delighted you enjoyed the trip,..its amazing how many people over the years admired that Scotch Broom,..i look forward to seeing it in full bloom each year,..it glows with blooms.

Philip

I have a friend who lives down south,..in County Cork,..she left the city and purchased a 200 year old cottage,..converted it and then started a garden from scratch,..below is the garden after 10 years of working on it,..its called "Ash Garden",..due to Ash Trees surrounding the garden.

Ah thank you!,..i must admit i made the video of Elizabeth's Ash Garden but she sent me the photographs so i can not take credit for the shots,..her garden is just over half an acre,..sigh!,..i could do with that space.

Sorry to see you have another storm approaching i hope it doesn't cause too much damage,..you get fierce storms in the USA,..compared to here.

As lovely as Elizabeth's Ash Garden is, your garden is the style that really speaks to me. I love the wild assortment of colorful blooms everywhere. Even though I have plenty of space, I find myself planting densely for that lush, cottagy appeal.

I am with you about planting densely,..i love the feeling being surrounded by tall plants with smaller ones below,..i know where this came on me,..visiting my Dad in the Botanical Gardens i could always be found in the huge glasshouses,..it was like a jungle,..as is a Cottage Garden,..Oh you are in KY,..is that Kentucky or as i was told to pronounce it Kantuckee by someone from there.
