Usually I put babies in an established pot but put a few in here alone, unsupervised by adults, to run wild.

There's Kalanchoe x houghtonii (the biggest ones,) Sedum rubrotinctum, Graptoveria 'Opalina.' The Kals are from babies that formed at the edge of a leaf. The others came from removing leaves from the mama plant. Both kinds are just too cool for words, IMVHO.

Do you have some leaf babies to show off?

This Sedum is starting to make side branches and a leaf that fell off has made a baby, to the right.

Some are lost in the shadows, but this tray is full of leaves harvested to make babies today. Excited already!

This is why I love succulents so much. Every leaf is an opportunity!

@tarev I didn't know gollum could be propagated like that. I will have to try that with mine. But the leaves on mine are very thick at the base and look massed so I don't know how to break them off without damage to the plant or leaf.

I usually choose the lower leaf, that still looks good, and gently twist it off. Comes off easily. Or if a branch is too leggy already, I cut off a segment of the branch and stick that directly to soil.

That's how I remove the leaves too. If I bend the leaf down & away, it will pop off. There's 2 of those leaves in the last pic I showed, toward the left.

Here is my other Crassula ovata gollum single leaf with small babies..with a Senecio morganianum single leaf too, also with some small babies, my little experiment last Feb 2013, putting them on an oyster shell with a little soil.

Putting it in a plastic container and pencil holder, just for the fun of it, still in the oyster shell

Tarev and Tiffany, you guys are getting me excited. Tarev, I love the oyster shell experiment. I've been trying to ignore my succulents this winter to keep from being tempted to water them. I'll check them out tomorrow to see which ones I will propagate. nodding

Ha ha Patti.....I had to be careful saying things like, "I'm rooting for ya!" when I went to Oz....

So, is it best practice to just lay the leaf on top of the soil, or prop it up? I'm asking because some of mine curl up a little and the little roots are reach out sideways into thin air instead of downwards into the soil.
