I couldn't resist - I ordered P.v. 'Blaue Glocke' for my mostly shady garden. Does anyone else grow this? And what's the best environment for it (although I have read that it's more of a prairie plant). Thanks for any advice.

I have P. 'Rote Glocke' in part-shade (morning and some midday sun, then shade) and another in full sun. Both do well, although the one in full sun tends to melt down mid summer and just disappear. The one in part-shade was newly planted last year and I forget if it also went dormant mid-summer or not. I'll keep an eye on it this year. Both are at the seedhead stage now, which I like almost as much as the flowers.

I did plant my P. v. in a mostly sun bed. It should get some partial shade in the afternoon from other plants surrounding it. I missed the flowering by the time it arrived but do have a few seed heads on it (hoping to collect). It was a rather large plant (makes me happy) and it settled in nicely - no wilting. So keeping my fingers crossed.
