I visited friends in the Florida Keys this week, and they have this beauty in their front yard. Please post your pictures of your large Adeniums on this thread.
This specimen is appr. 6 ft wide, it is a single plant. I love how it has decided to just grow sideways and not up.

WOW!!!! Drooling

I was born and raised in West Palm Beach FL and was very into plants ... I don't ever recall seeing Adeniums growing up. Strange because I know I would have loved them.....I always go for the "unusual" looking stuff!!
I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

There is a certain hybrid that looks like an obesum, but it grows sideways like that. No amount of pruning will make it grow up. There are sideways Adeniums here, I'll have to carry my camera around one of these days.

Elfie, that Adenium is probably in the ground.

Here are a few from St Croix, a little island in the Caribbean. It's dry season now, we haven't had a "good rain" in about two months.

One by the side of the road....

Another by a driveway entrance. I wish they'd cover those feeder roots with topsoil!!

.Looks like they tried to build a nice little place for this Adenium, but----

Too close to the possibility of being run over by a car. Some Adeniums believe there are terrible drivers here!!

Hi Doris. It is a scary thing pruning back such a beauty, as you have, but it sure pays off later.

I am not an expert, but I would be tempted to prune of the longer branches and make it more "mushroom" shaped on top. More symmetrical in appearance.
You have the makings there, similar to some of the larger plants in Thailand.
I am sure others will pop in.

I plan to do that but I need to get a SHARP TOOL as those branches are very thick, I may even plant the biggest one and see what it does.

Go at it, Doris! Maybe the branches would be a little easire to cut if they were somewhat dried, like, don't give the plant any water for a couple of weeks.

Here's one of my favorite plants on the island, but you just cannot see it! I'll bring a bulldozer in the middle of the night and get rid of that stone wall!

Here are the flowers, I put my camera thru the fence. They almost look like they have a pale clear turquoise blue light shining on them.

Nice plants, Melissa. Would love to be able to grow in the ground here.

Doris, You can use a nice sharp pair of pruners, just need to have the anvil side (thick hooked part) to the upper piece to be pruned, so as not to crush the lower part of stem that will remain on plant. This is what
David Clulow recommends if using pruners.

Sap is bad stuff, it needs to be wiped off immediately or sooner. You're right about that, Doris!

My little pet in full bloom. "Happy Gold" Only three years old, a grafted plant, wish it was twenty years old and in the ground!!!!

.Up close, the flowers open a nice soft butter yellow, and stay that way if the plant is in shade, but the petals sunburn to a pretty pink.
