I have about 340 plus lilies that were planted last fall. I have them more or less in raised beds but I dug down in the soil quite a bit and used fresh soil and filled them. the actually amount of the bed out of the soil would be about 6 inches.

I have another 70 plus lilies coming and want to do another bed. this time I want it to be level with the ground and build up the sides and not sure of the depth the sides have to be? most of the raised beds I have seen are 15 inches high and to me that is a lot of soil and not sure if the raised part is right on the grass with soil on top. I will use some type of weed control sheet on the very bottom if I have to go that high....

also how big of a bed do you think I will need for 70 lilies. most of them are Asiatic
I also have about another 40 trumpets that are coming later in the springtime......
so about 110 plus lilies have to go in the ground.

this is getting to be a very expensive hobby..hahaha but fun

any thoughts will be appreciated

thanks
Pat

one of the pre done beds that I just seen on amazon are 4 feet by 4 feet by 16 inches high and sell for 110.00 Canadian on sale right now

my other beds are made out of pressure treated lumber and not sure which is the cheapest way and the best way to go here.......

want all new soil to put in the bed.........premixed bedding soil is what I plan on using....

if you dig into the soil here all you hit is rocks. I think we at one time built on a gravel pit here.....seriously

found many other ones that are local for sale here but only are 9" deep and that might not be deep enough for the lilies.
the price is right for the beds though that can be added together for more space

the other option is just to build one out of timber like my other ones.....and might end up doing that yet

still have 4 1/2 feet of snow on the ground here...
and the lilies are coming sometime in the start of May
so have some time to think this over a bit more
