I was out looking at the garden today. I had a few leaves showing the other day from some of the hostas I had planted from seed, but had not seen any true little pips, I knew it had to be getting close. So I started pulling back the heavy layer of mulch the oak trees have laid down for me and sure enough there were some pips showing. As I stated in my post about 'SunHosta' I suspected 'So Sweet' would be one of my earliest Hostas to show.


Here are a few more I found, but they are not as far along.

Good to know that Hosta are sprouting in zone 8.
It will be awhile here in zone 3.
I do have seedlings coming along in the house.

I have a tray of seedlings I planted way back in the fall and they are also slowly showing little leaves. I was hoping they would all show at once, but they are taking their time and spreading out the show. Nothing special with the seedlings, just plain green ones is all I have ever gotten so far.

I'm old and because of that I repeat things and may have said this before . I have several Hosta beds in various micro-climates in my garden. The one on the east side of the house between the house and drive-way is the warmest and things come early in this bed. In other beds nothing is showing.....

Some of us may need a refresher course, so don't worry about repeating yourself! Looks like we'll be enjoying pictures of your gardens soon! It's still to early for hosta to show up here, but I have some companion plants showing signs of life!
