Can Borage be grown into containers? I'd prefer to pot it up.

Or, does it always have to be grown in the ground?

Are Borage plants even available to plant in the home garden?

I've been interested in growing bee and butterfly plants a lot more than before.

Are Borage plants (from garden centers, mail order, etc....) even available to buy to plant in the home garden? Or are they only available as seeds?

They grow quickly and easily from seeds so I have never looked for plants.
Bees love the flowers which are usually blue or pink.
This year I have acquired seeds for a white flowered variety.

Marilyn, I don't think I've ever seen borage plants for sale... but Caroline is right, they grow very easily from seed.

A few years ago I had a couple of borage plants growing in my veg garden and they became infested with some pretty ugly looking caterpillars.... sprayed them with BT and was quite pleased with myself for saving the plants, until I realized the caterpillars were baby Painted Lady butterflies (ever since then I've been a lot more diligent about finding out what the bugs on my plants actually are!)

I grew my first batch from seed years ago, and now they self-sow. Full sun and a leaner, less nutritious mix kept on the dry side after sprouting would be best for your container, otherwise your stems may flop. Mine will even flop in-ground if we have an exceptionally wet early summer, or if other plants partially shade their area.

Definitely one of the best bee plants I have here! Love it.
