Took a rose cutting and it is doing very well after two years, but what is this plant blooming in the same pot. Ignore all the little seedlings, they are everywhere right now.

Thanks,
Certainly looks like it to me. Now I need to see if it is something I want to keep.

You may find keeping it is easier than getting rid of it...

Yep. I have them all over one of my beds that I haven't been able to keep weeded. They spread like wild fire!

I wouldn't mind them so much if they bloom. The ones I have never bloom though...they just spread. They must be a variety that blooms under the leaves , as the seed had to come from somewhere.

I agree with Viola but there are many species of Viola that look very much alike and with cultivars and hybrids, this could be something other than V. odorata.

Violets have two types of flowers, chasmogamous and cleistogamous. Chasmogamous flowers are the showy ones that you typically notice. Cleistogamous flowers are self pollinating so they don't have showy petals, often they don't even open, and are easily overlooked. In violets, most of the seed is produced by the cleistogamous flowers.

Could it be Viola villosa? http://www.alabamaplants.com/B... which is a native in Alabama? http://www.floraofalabama.org/...

Looks more like Sweet Violet (Viola odorata) to me because of the cut out looking section in the leaf.

Yes, it does indeed look more like V. odorata.
