I bought 4 bulbs yesterday and am going to plant them likely in mid April after the last frost, I decided to plant them
in between my 8 Naked Ladies since there is plenty of room, and I do realize in a few years they should be
divided. I think it is the perfect area which gets light sun. My question is since it is a new planting THIS spring
should I not anticipate to see them appear in bloom until next spring? Thanks.

It all depends on how happy the Astilbe are. If the soil is rich and they get enough moisture (try mulching them after they come up), they might surprise you come late May/early June. They do like their nutrients (dare I say fertilizer?) but I'm not sure if the naked ladies would be happy with that since I have only a couple neglected plants. I think it would be a great combo though.

Thanks Shadegardner for your reply. I am reading here and there about them and many sights said make sure that
where they are placed is not where puddles form, and it is going to be raining a few days this week so I can see if
there is a puddle situation. Not sure about the richness of the soil, how does one know? I assumed since the Naked
Ladies are growing by leaps and bounds everyday it must be good.
