My Grandma gave this houseplant to me years ago and I cannot remember the name of it. She is no longer with us so I can't ask her (wish I had wrote it down). I don't think it's a flowering plant since it has never bloomed. The stalks are flat. I think it may be ready to be re-potted or divided. I've searched extensively online to find its name without any success. Any help would be greatly appreciated it.
That's it! Neomarica gracilis...Apostle Plant! That's what my Grandma called it! I knew if I heard it, I'd remember!!! I always set it on my porch every summer but it has never bloomed. I didn't even know it was suppose to bloom! Thank you for your help, greene!!!

We share this plant at our local swap. Whoever takes one home brings back the babies a few years later. It's a good plant to share.
I am so happy that yours is blooming.

I got my original plant in Austin, Texas under the name 'walking Iris' rather than "Apostle plant". Both are good descriptive common names for the Neomarica gracilis and certainly easier to remember. I have to bring it inside for the winter in zone 7a. It is soooo prolific, I have baskets of it after passing on many.
