Looks like a nice Phalenopsis, Pia-Louise. They sometimes will re-bloom on an existing stem, so don't cut the stem off for a while, and see if it responds to your care. May we see a picture of the plant too, please?
They like bright, indirect light and cool to moderate temperatures, which you will have in the UK, for sure. They generally bloom in the spring for me, and the blooms can last for a couple of months.
Check the potting medium, though. Often here Phals are sold in straight moss, and this can stay too wet for the roots, causing root rot. A chunky bark mix is a better choice, as the roots need plenty of air. But you'll want to wait until you're sure it's not going to re-bloom before repotting. Be sure the pot has air holes, too. A regular plastic pot is generally not a great choice.
