So why does the US have high cancer rates?

Something to do with "you are what you eat".

My sister died from liver cancer a few years ago, and as a result I did a lot of research. Officially the liver cancer was a result of a perscription medication--methotrexate. But also she was a smoker, a sugar addict, and I don't think she ever ate any real food.
So it was a sad lesson to learn that so many people eat out of boxes. What's in those boxes is a combination of GMOs, preservatives, and artificial flavors. It is shocking to become aware that people in the US really don't have any conception of what healthy food for the human body would be like. Perscription drugs are often poisons also. Many of them cause liver damage.

I hope that is home brewed beer and non-gluten home made bread!

Thanks Hazel!

I'm a type one diabetic, the type that is inherited, not from eating donuts & going to mcdonalds.

It's often a hard fact that being healthy means eating healthy.

For me that means avoiding processed food.

Folks that maintain a healthy diet, can avoid many of the modern chronic problems of getting old.

The food that we eat is our medicine!

So true. I am a type 2 diabetic. All but two of the 7 members of my family have diabetics: paternal grand mother, maternal grand father, Mother all had diabetes. So I guess even Type 2 diabetes has a genetic basis. One of my brothers is a type 1 diabetic, and 2 that were Type 2 are now double diabetics--they have both type 1 and Type 2. This happens from taking insulin. Over the past 2 years I have been experimenting with ways to "reverse" my Type 2 diabetes. I never was fat and Ive been a macrobiotic vegetarian for more than 30 years. No junk but macrobiotics does involve a lot of pasta, rice, and beans. I did get off insulin. Most recently I have tried intermittent fasting which got my A1c down to 5.4, but I think it triggered some other anomalies, so I cant say my diabetes is refersed.

But you are absolutely right, learning to eat real food is basic--preferably home grownis essential to a healthy long life. And the other basic is to keep your innate immune system intact (avoid antibiotics and unnecessary vaccines), and play in the dirt alot.
My Type 1 brother just had a stroke. Something to avoid if possible!

Wow Hazel! Getting off insulin injections is major! And a lot of work.

My main daily therapy is to cook healthy food, and try to add as many homegrown items as possible. Agreed with my doctor, I use diet & exercise as a means to maintain health. No added drugs (especially no statins).

That's amazing that you can get by without drugs as a Type 1. I am still taking Metformin. What I am learning now is that a lot of the symptoms that remain are autoimmune--which means there is some poisons backed up somewhere. You will do great cooking from scratch and growing your own food. I hope to get there this year.

i do recommend sauerkraut or kim chi for a Korean version.

Statins. I just read that the whole cholesterol thing is a myth: cholesterol forms where there is some damage. So it is an effect not a cause, and you need it to keep your brain working! I am amazed how many people are on statins--and they do a lot of damage.

The entire pharmaceutacle industry is not to help people. It's to make$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The easiest fix for getting healthy is to always cook your own meals and know what you put in them.

Your food is your pharmacy!

Hey Hazel, I take insulin and lisinopril (small dose for kidneys). All of the other popular drugs for diabetes, I avoid and meet the conflict by eating right and exercising (farming).

All the farmers I know live a long time unless they have a pint of Jack Black after dinner. I think you have discovered the secret!

And it is also true that drug companies are making a pile off diabetics. I just got a letter from Medicare that said they would not pay for monitor strips. You need another insurance company to cover those.

There is more and more information on plants that will support diabetes as well as or better than the drugs: cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, blueberries., kale, artichoke, asparagas! I bet you have those in your garden right now! I have a few blueberries to go in now, but my plan is to make a whole hedge of them. its hard to find the heirloom varieties though, and I bet those are the one's that have the best ingredients. Of course you have the magic Hawaiian stuff that wont even grow here.

Here's a little info for you to prove once again that pharmaceutical products are just plain wrong.
In the Bible there are verses that use the words witchcraft and sorceries...I will show Galatians 5:20 for proof. The other verses are Revelation 9:21and Revelation 18:23.
Notice here in Galatians 5:20 the word "witchcraft"......
Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Galatians 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Greek word for "witchcraft" used here is - farmakeia, pharmakeia, {far-mak-i'-ah} (from pharmakeus); it is defined as:
medication ("pharmacy"), i.e. (by extension) magic (literally or figuratively):--sorcery, witchcraft.

The Greek word pharmakeia is derived from the Greek word - farmakeuv pharmakeus, { far-mak-yoos'} ;(from pharmakon)
it is defined as: (a drug, i.e. spell-giving potion); a druggist ("pharmacist") or poisoner, i.e. (by extension) a magician:--sorcerer.
The word pharmakeus is used in Revelation 21:8 as sorcerers
This word pharmakeus is from the Greek word pharmakon meaning: a drug

The whole pharmaceutical system is about $$ money $$ and it is diabolical, to say the least.
