Gorgeous weather today brought out lots of blooms, so I'd like to invite you all to join me on a stroll. Lets say you've just gotten out of your car, at the top of the driveway. You're approaching the house and are greeted by the entrance beds, that I call "Jan's Garden", a memorial to a dear friend.


Walk slowly, and look down, there are a lot of little treasures along the way...


The original part of this house was a 2 room log cabin, and it has been built onto several times, and strange, but charming quirks emerged as a result. One of which is that there are 2 side walks leading to the entrance. Quirky certainly works for me, so I went with it, and used the walkways for lots of little plants to appreciate closely. First we see Crocus foliage maturing, Lamium, Erlicheer daffodils, Virginia bluebells, Siberian Irises, and Lathyrus vernus.

Daffodil Silent Valley, Anemone blanda White Splendour, Muscari Valerie Finnis, emerging Alstroemeria Mauve Majesty, and a new lavender rose, Poseidon.

Now lets head down the path along the side yard, that leads to the front yard.


I've expanded this area, by joining some smaller beds, so we'll want to spend some time here...

















Now lets head to the front yard...

Although its the front yard, you have to make a point to visit it, because we enter through the back. I get to play there more like its the back yard, only without the dog fence!

I call these beds the sunset garden. I see them from the house looking to the west, and the sunsets are beautiful from this hill. I'm inspired to use all the colors I see in the sunsets.

Now we get to the pink bed. It has expanded due to the removal of a huge mock orange, about 15' wide and almost that tall.

for the tour, Neal. Your yard is beautiful, huge and well designed, with wonderful views. I'd love to see it at the peak of the growing season. I just bet that it's absolutely gorgeous then.

And now we come to the part I call the sky garden.

Now we come to the bed of fire colors. I think it's my favorite right now.

Beautiful gardens. Don't know how you all have time to maintain such expanses, but they sure are a wonderful sight to see.

Amazingly beautiful garden. I will limger here as you update. Seeing the close ups of patches of bulbs have been very nice but seeing them in the garden setting along with other plants and trees is great!
