Anyone have experience growing these? I saw one for sale the other day...really strange looking and I'm interested...

I knew someone had posted one in bloom last year, it was @Fred.

Perhaps he pops in and shares his expertise.

The flower reminds me of a Greek pastry. It is so weird it' a wonder I'm not growing it. Let me go put it on the want list while I'm thinking of it. I'm all ears!

I recall the Plantio folks did have it on display, I think it may have been last fall at the plant festival, but may have been at the Sarasota show.

There's another reason to pay you a visit, Elaine. I'd like one and I want another David Sander too. Mine has been pouting for two years.

Look forward to it, Jim. I'm sort of tied up until the end of the month with family visiting, but free any day but Tuesday after that. Maybe Kate will come and meet us at Tropiflora? We could do lunch at the Hob Nob, a Sarasota institution right on par with the Catfish Place in Apopka.

Better call Raphael and see if he has both of those, before you make a special trip maybe? I sure got a great David Sander plant from them, and it was a bare root start for $10 originally!

Perhaps I can come on a day when Tropiflora is having a special sale. It sounds like fun and it would be nice to meet Kate. Keep me posted. Two more MG talks and I'm done for the summer. I'll have done 27 this year.

Jim! You get the Gold Medal for MG talks for sure. I do most of mine in the summer and fall when I'm not too wrapped up in the school garden, which ends in mid-May.

I'm doing a whole day seminar in June on School Gardens, with a tour of our garden, hands-on composting demo and a talk on growing Edibles. Teachers and MG's get something like 4 hours of CEU's for that. Luckily I'm not the only speaker on that one, the Extension agent and Farm to School rep will be teaching as well.

I would love love love to hang out with some Master Gardeners and orchid experts! And any excuse to go to Tropiflora! I will be so full of questions; you all may regret this...... Big Grin Sticking tongue out

Just popped in to see there was a message for me. My Crths. macrantha is continually blooming. When one spike/flower is done, another will soon start to develop. Trouble is, they don't last long. This time I got a two for one deal though. This is from the other day.
