Here , they are sitting out in pots at the garden centers.
I am planning to plant soon here in zone 3.
You might want to keep:--- either a rose hut or large paper garbage bag ready, in case a deep frost hits.

If they've been outdoors for a while, and potted for a while, it would be different from if they've brought them in wholesale recently because in that case they might not yet have rooted properly in the pot. They could be basically bare-root roses from a more southerly area and not used to the cold. Did you already buy it and is it in a pot? If so you could just give it a couple of weeks or so in a sheltered spot before planting it.

Edit: Checked out the Minnesota Rose Society site and they say: "Dormant roses may be planted between April 10 and May 15.......Potted roses should show good growth and may be planted from May 15 throughout the growing season."

Yes, and I should have mentioned that I only buy the Hardy Roses like Explorer and Morden roses.
They did have some of the less hardy ones in pots too.

I agree with Caroline about buying only hardy roses, saves you money, time and energy in the long run plus you will have them for many years.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!

Okay I will look into hardy Roses, now I just need to find out where to plant um, I cant by the treee, staff already have plans there, I cant by the front yard fence because of the neighbors kids and there balls/ect. I was hoping by the garage, plenty of sun and space for a rose.

If the rose has been growing in a greenhouse, it will need time to sit outside during the day before it is ready to handle nighttime temps and wind and cold. That is true even if you are buying them in May!
If, somehow, the nursery has been growing them in pots outdoors, then you might be ok. Keep an eye on the weather. If you expect any kind of freeze, you'll need to protect them. Your last frost date is around May 10, so before then you are kind of pushing your chances.
I got in a hurry and bought a number of lovely potted roses from a nursery 2 weeks ago. I planted them and they were beautiful. The next day, we had a freak 29 degree night (after many 70 degree days) and all the roses died waaaay back. I may even lose a few, even though temps since then have been moderate.
They would have been much better off had I left them in the pots and moved them in and out for a week or so.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
