Well I'm a happy camper this spring after installing an 8' deer fence last fall. All the heucheras inside the fence look lush. There were about a dozen that I didn't get moved last fall which were eaten down to nubs. Those have all been rescued and moved inside the fence and they are looking better.

Also, ( I can't go out and check because it is pouring rain) I got a new heuchera last summer and still have the label. I took a picture of it and I believe it was called 'Cracked Ice' ( will check tomorrow) but can't find it in the Database. Here is an image of it.

And here are some images of the garden with heucheras this spring.

( Above) the area in the back gets almost completely full sun, yet the heucheras do well there too.

Your gardens look great.
Cracked Ice is a Heucherella not a Heuchera, look in that section of database.

OK Bob, thanks. No wonder I couldn't find it. Now that I look at the leaves, it makes sense.

Julie, your beds are looking wonderful. I lost a few over the winter and still in doubt about a few others,

Simply beautiful. Funny that they say deer resistant. They are not to resistant but my deer and rabbits eat them. Plus the weather kills them. I have such a hard time keeping these beauties alive. I think they really are a zone 7 plant.

They seem to thrive here - I'm on the edge of zone 6/7. Most are in half rather than full sun but I didn't realize how much the deer were devastating them each year. I took more pics this week - they are just HUGE without being nibbled on all winter!

very impressive, Julie!! we have lots of thriving hostas and shade garden type stuff, but for some reason we don't do too well with heuchera's. we love them and we are constantly buying them as companions for our hostas and ferns, but they just seem to peter out or they contract Psuedomonas, or they're just plain thin and gangly. every once in a while we'll get one that does well and stays full and lush, but not too often. you think its a watering issue? fertilization issue? sun/shade issue? our "Venus", seen below was gorgeous! until Psuedomonas took over. its never been the same...
