I acquired this a couple of weeks ago under this name. There aren't any photos in the database. The description says it will have white blooms. There are some buds or sockets of buds on the plant, but they look relatively dry. I'm hoping some that are small will bloom. The database search also brought up Petrosedum rupestre subsp. rupestre 'Lemon Coral' which also uses the name Sedum mexicanum 'Lemon Ball'. There are a lot of photos of that and the plants appear to be alike. I'm wondering if perhaps Sedum mexicanum has been changed to Petrosedum repestre and Sedum mexicanum is no longer current? I'll have to wait to verify the bloom is white. Here's a photo.

I'm not sure about Sedum mexicanum but that looks like Sedum album to me, which has white blooms. It is sometimes referred to as Baby Tears sedum.

The plant does look pretty much the same as Sedum album comparing it to the database photos. The foliage also looks much the same (to me, anyway) to the Petrosedum rupestre. The label says the plant originated with CactusCollection.com in Vista, CA and I tried to go there but the site didn't come up for me. I never really trust labels altogether. It's good to have them, but sometimes they can be incorrect even with the best of intentions. In this case, the bold letters say it's cold hardy and then gives the moniker of Mexican Sedum/Sedum mexicanum. But included in the description aside from having white flowers is info that says it is only hardy to 32F. That's not very cold hardy to me. That says if it is exposed to freezing temps it's going to be killed. I guess I'll wait and hope it blooms and that helps. Probably it will just get stuck as some kind of Sedum.

cactuscollection.com labels are frustrating that way. Several of the plants I've gotten from them have proven to be quite hardy, outside for 2 winters now. 3 of those are Sedums.

If they have no way of testing, it's understandable that they would just advise to keep above freezing for everything. Info about succulent hardiness is spotty at best, from any sources. I gave up looking & decided it would just be easier to experiment with cuttings & find out for myself. Looks like you have enough to do the same.

It looks to me more like the plant pictured for that species (at cactuscollection.com) than S. album or rupestre.

Here is a photo of this plant blooming. Since it was sold as Sedum mexicanum 'Mexican Sedum' and that plant is described as having white blooms, I'm going to assume it's the correct identification and add the photos to the database under Sedum mexicanum unless someone responds here indicating they doubt it's a valid id.

That worked, Tiffany. As a Sedum it has a bit more open growth than I'd have expected. Foliage is not a dense mat. It also is showing a tendency to be in constant bloom - not spring seasonal anyway. Since it's a new plant to me, I can only compare it to other Sedums. I'm not inclined to test its cold tolerance if I can manage to avoid it, so I'll plan to move it into the garage when temps are below freezing. If it grows enough that I have more than one container, then it may get tested. That may be a while. It looks healthy and happy, but the growth has been really slow.

I saw one of these at HD and was really tempted to pick it up. But, I don't do well with most succulents.

It might fill in over time where you see bare stems, as the few I saw had what appeared to be little plantlets forming where leaves had long since died off.
