When I went to pick up my wife yesterday it was starting to sprinkle. By the time I got a mile from the house I was getting hit by hail. I just knew when I got home all my seedlings in the front yard would be destroyed. Surprisingly they all came out ok. Then today I went in the backyard and saw my water plants. They look like they were hit with a shotgun.

A difference front to back, huh? Isn't that wild? I've seen the neighbor across the road get 1/2 inch of rain standing in the yard watching it rain when I didn't receive a drop. I've seen it rain hard in the river bottom below the house and nothing at the house. Weird! Last week a storm blew through. I got a half inch, a neighbor maybe 1 1/2 mile away as the crow flies got 2 inches and hail. That's the system that put huge spheres of ice in the next county. I'm glad not to have had those!

We've dropped down to 20% chance this week all the way from the earlier prediction of 60%. It was really windy here today. I think it blew all the rain clouds away. I guess I'd better get busy and repair my sprinkler head. Darn it!

We've had over 3.5" rain and lightning all around us. All the usual low water closings are flooded. Just didn't think it was that serious. It's still pouring, but at least the lightning has moved on.

I spread lots of mulch out front this morning. I hope my "down the hill" neighbor isn't going to have it all tomorrow morning! Whistling

Edited to add: Twenty seven low water crossings in Austin are now flooded.

Thanks, Anna. We're fine up on the hill. Parental units have picked up DGS. All safe. Now we're hearing there's a rock slide on Loop 360. Going to be a slow commute in the morning!

Our phones are going off with flash flood warnings and it's still raining hard. The mosquitoes will be gathering in the morning!

Drip drip drip. No rain here, just drip and drizzle. So tired of it.

The mosquitoes are terrible outside. I discovered that spraying myself with sunscreen was just as effective as mosquito repellent. Just drizzle now, but we are expecting more rain this weekend.

I've been complaining that I can't find any of my garden gloves. I bought 12 pair in the last co-op. Looked in all the ususal places this spring. Yesterday, I was looking for something in the garage and spotted a plastic shoe box way above the workbench. DH has no idea how they got there. I never put anything away....so it had to be the garden fairies. I had to toss some. I washed the rest twice and laid them on the chair to dry. Now it's raining ... must be the fairies again.

@LindaTX8, hope you get some rain. Weather guys are predicting over 7" over the weekend for central Texas. Looks like San Antonio had some.

Fairies also like to hide just the right hand gloves too!

Those must be conservative fairies; mine hide the left ones.

@canadanna I'm fairly sure the mister found some gloves on and around his workbench and then "helped" me by boxing them all up. 'Just not admitting it. I do think the fairies probably took some of the right gloves, tho.

I'm usually not sensitive to mosquitoes, they usually leave me a one for the most part. Not this year. They seem to have a special attraction to the backs of my deltoids. Or maybe my new body lotion? They seem to love being in my greenhouse. Who could blame them? Lovey dubby It's a great place to be right now. I am in there a lot these days re-potting, and starting up seedlings and cuttings and such. I am thinking about getting some of those plants, citronella or lemon something-or-rather to keep them out of the greenhouse at least?
