Hi. i posted this on another plant website. Now I am trying here. I am looking for THIS 'stapelia varigata'. That has this flower. It is a star shape, yellow bloom with reddish/maroon spots. It also has a fringe of tiny purple hairs all along the edge of the blooms, that fall off VERY easily by hand or the wind. I have had no luck in getting it. It seems a few people have had it, so it is available, but they also lost it. I lost mine after a wet summer, and lost its name-tag long before that, so I lost even its name. I finally found out it was a Stapelia. So..does anyone have it and willing to sell me some, or trade for other huernias?
Hello Stan from Stan.
Your Orbea Var. gets a much bigger flower than the one above which is almsot like the orange Orbea schweinfurthii we have. Plants shipping out Monday morning (tomorrow). See what flowers and post here. I have one large Huernia somalica Hybrids that just kept blooming thru winter. I am lucky to keep a plant alive yet bloom! I would love to polenate this for future keepers to have a much hardier blend. I only wish the flowers were larger but we can't have it all, all the time. Picture of past flower in fall.
