We have 2 big rocks, my husband took a chisel and made some good size holes for me to plant in, we shall see how it goes.
So far I put Ivy in one and have not planted in the second one as of yet. They set under a tree so won`t get sun baked
or overly saturated in rain, as there is not perfect drainage, a fun garden art experiment anyway. Last year I put Alyussum (sp)
seeds in and they sprouted and bloomed and did well, so I might put those in the other one.

I do like the "yum" part of that last misspelling of alyssum. Hilarious! One of my favorite annuals. And they DO smell yummy! Smiling
Love the rock!

Oh, I love that rock! I have an old hunk of coquina rock hiding out back behind the deck amidst a bunch of invasive clerodendrums. I think I'll get my husband to bring it around the front so I can try something like that. Great idea Linda, thanks for sharing!

I will take a picture soon, the alyssum not doing great because of lack of sun, if the rock was in the sun the
roots might get too hot, but the variegated ivy is doing very well, it is a learning experiment and from it I
learn what may do best in the rock and I should not of put a sun type plant in it.

Oh, the ivy looks nice! Could a coleus grow ok in place of the alyssum?

Coleus would be a good choice IF the rock had a deeper crevice as it could get tall, so for my rock I
need to stay with short type plants.
