Thread OP

I know that it has to be in the rose family. The blossom smells very much like baby lotion, and is very sweet and fragrant. It is a fairly evasive climber. It is already a bit larger than my 4 year old rose was. I had a miniature, climbing, pink rose planted in this same spot the last few years, this year apparently a bird has planted this where my rose was. In fact I did not even realize my rose had died until this started to bloom. My guess is that as it grew it slowly killed the rose so I never noticed the difference. I would love to know exactly what it is. Thank you so much in advance for the help.

it could have been the rootstock that your pink rose was grafted to. The pink died and the rootstock started taking over. Probably a multiflora invasive. Is it fragrant and does it bloom off and on or just once during the growing season?
