@FBTS

Two of your zone 7 Elk Salvias survived our zone 6a Winter here in Containers! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I've two Salvia x 'Elk Hot Tamale' plants in two different containers that are showing green in the center of the old brown stems when broken.. Both in full sun. One is on the patio and the other sits on top of soil in a flowerbed.

I've one Salvia greggii 'Elk Pomegranate' in a container that gets partial shade that's showing green in the center of the old brown stems when broken.

I'd ordered another Elk Hot Tamale for this year, so now I've three! Elk Pomegranate was sold out, so I couldn't order it this year, but now I have one!

The hummers are going to be so happy! Lovey dubby Thumbs up

Thank you. We try to be pessimistic about the hardiness of a plant, and are surprised at times when we get reports like this.
