I am just about frantic and wanted to give you a smile or laugh
as it is amusing but going to be difficult as we photographers
can not put our camera down any daytime hour!
We have our camera batteries charges and always have 2 memory
stick cards ready even at home for our flower gardens!

I get up and first thing I do is look out my large windows to
see what is blooming in Sheri's healing flower garden.

I am about to have 2 cataract surgeries and due to the type lens
implant I am having I am not to do any strain on each eye for 30 days from each surgery. I will not be using my camera.

I sit here and I am in love with my flower bed..as I type this
looking at the blooms and the greenery.

I will miss most of my daylillys in bloom and also my bee balm
but hope to see some of my butterfly bushes bloom in late May and June.

So, say a prayer for me that I will sit still ..and behave myself
for 30 days and not ruin what I am about to have done in surgeries.

Love being on All things plants with you all!
Sheri

What sort of "special" lenses are you getting, Sheri. My wife and I have had both lenses replaced and other than putting in drops for a week or so with each lens replacement, we had no restrictions whatsoever. By the way, the surgeries were a piece of cake.

Good luck! Thumbs up

Sheridragonfly,
Group hug You are a smart and responsible person and you will behave yourself.
The time will pass quickly and just think how much more beautiful everything will look after the surgery!
Perhaps some of the excellent photographers on All Things Plants might spend the next 30 days posting photos from their gardens here so you don't miss anything.

I appreciate your warm comments and well wishes for May 20 and June 3
I am having toric lens implants in each eye after he removes the cataracts.

The reason I can not do any work or gardening or camera use or mild exercise
is that these particular lens have to be placed precisely on the cornea
and they can shift...from movement or placed wrong by the surgeon..

This is suppose to correct my astigmatism in both eyes..
I have fairly good vision but the astigmatism makes everything
no real detailed.. far off ...

The close up vision I did not want corrected because they have not perfected
those multifocal lens implants in my opinion yet..and many others that have gotten them
on line or I know in person..they adjusted because they had to ..to the lens.

I went to the optometrist last week to try for the first time one contact for closeup and one for distance to see if my brain would adapt to that...in case I wanted to have lens implants to do the same..my surgeon asked me to do that ahead of time.

Well I went positive I could wear them and do the monofocal lens
and after 7 hours I could not..it was like a slight blur when I tried to look across
the store, parking lot, clothes tickets and road signs..
That was what I would have preferred because my close up vision is really
not good ...and that is due to age...it was perfect for years distance and close up
enough to not wear glasses...

So you got a lesson when you asked me...LOL
in lens implants..

That is why I am going to be careful as I have to pay myself for these lens full price
and not covered by any insurance..nor are the drops I have to use after each surgery
and those are VERY expensive each time..even the generic ones..

I will be on line till May 16 so write me if you need to..a tree mail...
any questions or comments..or on here..

Thanks
Sheri

Ken
thanks!
It took me a year of research on those lens implants...and what others thought of them...
to learn

The reason I cited 30 days of not hard strenous work in house or yard or exercise
with the toric lens...is that a surgeon online told a man not to jog for 30 days
so I thought I would go along with his suggestion..of taking it easy for 30 days
if I can make myself..

My surgeon who is young will most likely say 2 weeks of resting each eye
after each surgery for this toric lens...that has to be pre measured so that
it sits on the cornea ..perfectly

and lets the light in the way it is suppose to so that what I see in distance will be clean
and no blurry...and should be defined!

my corneas are football shaped in astigmatism...

the toric lens will be to make the cornea appear rounded
like a normal cornea .instead of oblong or football shaped
which causes astigmatism in the eye or eyes. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes.

it should correct the astigmatism

I can certainly understand no jogging. That's an impact "sport". I could not jog if my life depended on it. Bad back.

Sheri, I hope you have an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery, as well as fabulous results! It will be difficult for a couple of months, but after that just think how wonderful everything will look (I'm sure that is exactly what you are thinking) Thumbs up

Good luck with the surgery. I had cataracts in both eyes taken care of some years back -- and I couldn't believe that I had been missing out on so much color; especially the blues. I had decorated one kitchen wall with a blue patterned wallpaper --- oh my -- that had to go. I couldn't believe how bright it was. I kept asking my family why they didn't say anything ..... well, we thought you loved it ! Ha !

When I had cataract surgery (along with a vitrectomy, fun stuff) I was told not to bend over or lift anything to allow the incision where the lens had been inserted time to heal.

Thanks for sharing the lizard pictures. Adorable. Lovey dubby

This year I have two kinds of lizards in my garden...they are both plain old Anole lizards...but one type is 'wild' and the others are from the eggs that I incubated. The incubated eggs became accustomed to the sound of my voice and do not run and hide. Quite often they will come very close to me in the garden. I thought about singing to them, but that may scare them away. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
