Can some one help me I D this funny looking bug. It flew around my house and at first I thought it was a humming bird. Then it appears to have two body parts with wings in the middle. One pair clear other black and silver. Almost like a dragon fly but larger. Back body with mouth like an assassin bug.

Sometimes it is fun to see the "shock and awe" effect insects do to protect themselves. Only to find out it is just a decoration on their wings or body meant to scare and nothing more Big Grin

Those are awesome bugs!
I never saw one here as a kid, I'm pretty sure if it was here I'd have found em, they're huge! Always loved click beetles anyway...
About 4-5 years ago I started seeing them, they're a regular now, I wonder if they are pushing north...they can bite you a little, nothing to fear, no poison and it won't bleed, just a little pinch of they go down your shirt, not even as bad as these salt hungry Asian lady beetles that have taken over...
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!
