I planted these Petunias and Sedums together this year. I think they look good together.

That top Petunia looks like one that would smell good. Is that the case?

Those are all beauties!

I grew these from seed, and they are just beginning to bloom. Still waiting on blooms from a few others

This is a new petunia called 'Indian summer' that i'm going to try with the Pink dragon wing begonias. The pink of the dragon wing is kind of a peachy/ pink and is hard to match.

This is a bad picture but made a hanging basket and all my containers at the front door have this petunia in them. Hope it works or it will be an eye sore all summer.
Can not be as bad as the color combo I did with, fuchsia and Orange. Saw that some place and thought it was beautiful. NOT!

Nice petunias all of them. For Mother's Day I potted up 3 of the "Easy Wave" purples for who else, but mom. Out of a 6 pack, the other three went in the ground in a bed adjacent to where the pot would end up. The potted plants went into a generic brand fertilized potting mixture and the other 3 into raw, dry garbage soil amended with the same potting mix. The ground-grown plants are thriving, but not excessively so. Nice and healthy, productive. Once the potted plant was worthy of the front porch I put it out and got an insane show but by the time I potted some standard petunias it's grown weaker and weaker. I've been pinching on the Easy Wave but I feels/looks like it needs a trim?

Second time growing the Waves, fairly impressed but plain 'ol petunias always worked. The blacks are really taking off and add a nice contrast. I don't want to start over. I've been gentle on the water, shaded in the afternoon but it gets a good blast of sun and plenty of heat.

I'll add a pic of the purple Waves tomorrow, this was perfection 2 weeks ago:

And yes, the driveway reflector serves a purpose. Mom can't park very well and I need to stuff a 1/2 ton truck between her car and the neighbor's SUV. Glad I can park! LOL! Big Grin

I wish my wave petunias grew like yours. You really got that much growth in the pot from 3 plants? I have to stop wasting my expensive Black Gold potting soil for them. Hilarious!

I had to laugh at your Mom story. I was riding down the street one day with a friend and commented who was driving down the middle of the street that person was going to kill someone. As the drive approached me closer I realized it was my Mom. I jumped out of the car got her out and had my friend drive my car so I could get her home and take away her car keys and the electric garage opener. That was the end of her driving days.

She did not mind she could call me and I could be her chauffeur and she could go to more places.

I used some left over soil from my Iceplants last year for Petunias and Million Bells this year. It had chicken grit in it (crushed granite). I'm shocked how huge they are. I've never grown Petunias like that. Has anyone else tried Petunias in a grittier potting mix?

My petunias nearly always go in containers, mostly hanging baskets, so I mix in lots of pearlite and vermiculite, but I have never added chicken grit. I tend to really crowd mine so they don't get all that huge.

I crowded mine and they all are growing like mad. Here's one photo. This doesn't show the purple ones on the other side. The top few inches of soil had a lot of grit in it but deeper down ito more moisture holding soil. This also worked well for my ice plants last year. I'm also growing sedums in the pot with them and they look good too. This plant is probably about 3 feet across.

Clint, nice growth!

My only "grit" was from older mixed potting soil with some light fertilized commercial offering. I wanted "plain" Fafard Commercial Mix potting soil that I'm used to. Those 3 Waves were slow but when they took off it was gangbusters. Annuals, no complaints. The ground-grown plants are doing exactly what I'd expect. Lots of years of experience with begonias and impatiens . I had no interest in Wave petunias until you couldn't get away from them. They're nice. I'd rather pot standard petunias considering what I'm seeing?

Just my speculation but this pot probably isn't getting enough sun? Growth and blooms are still respectable and I know our temps are hotter. I can fix the pot with new plants but I don't want to.

Loss and replanting isn't the end. I might re-up with simple scissors? I'll add a pic.

My petunias are just starting to fill out. I was slow getting the seeds started this year, and even slower getting them in the baskets. But they are starting to show promise.

I'm in love with Proven Winners "Supertunias" and have planted them every year for the last few years in a window box.
They out perform/bloom any Petunia I have ever grown, however they are a Petunia hybrid.
Anyway this year I planted the dark red variety "Black Cherry" and it has not filled out like the other varieties I have grown, nor done as well. Anybody here grow Supertunia Black Cherry?

Here is Black Cherry, which is looking pretty ragged now
but this pic was taken before it started going downhill.
