Do you have a garden planted just for cutting? What types of plants do you have readily available for cuttings. Is your plot mainly annuals or perennials? Come tell us in this forum.

This is a raised brick bed located on our patio. Spider dahlias look fab in a vase and this is just the garden to find those to cut. As you can see we love to decorate outside - the mirror is an antique that Steve finished with polyeurethane so it withstands the elements.

Zinnias in the sun garden. I start the zinnias in the spring from seed harvested the previous year. They get very tall and make great cuttings.

Hi Candy,
I'm going to be coming back as time allows to see all your handiwork in this Cubit. Love, love, love that mirror! And it goes without saying that I love those dahlias too.

What variety of zinnias have you found good for cutting? I'm thinning out perennials in one bed this year and would like to add some zinnias.

Nice work. I shall return!

I have some dinnerplate ones but they are so large and heavy they are only really good for floating arrangements. I use a lot of spider dahlias, they are really attractive and last a while and are quite sturdy in the vase.
As for zinnias I never found a bad one. I tell you they last longer in an arrangement than almost any flower I have ever worked with. I often make an arrangement and after a week or more throw out everything except the zinnias, which I use in the next one.

Just reviewing some forums...How did the tulips do this year...They are so beautiful here and I don't have a one...Do yours come back each year? Some folks say yes some say you have to replant each fall.

Mine come back every year, sometimes more than I expect and sometimes fewer than expected. I just hope this torrential rain doesn't beat them all down before I can get a pic of them!

I hope so too. Around here something like wind and rain usually take them down but seems they are very nice in this area this year.

I can't believe mine are surviving this wind and torrential rain that we keep getting, but so far they are standing strong. Hope to get a pic when the sun shines, well if it shines LOL!

I do not have a cutting garden but I am always picking flowers from the garden.
This daisy always has so many blooms it has to be the most prolific.
I dead headed the first wave and cut off 262 blooms there was an easy 200 more .

Very nice. Would love to do some deadheading myself, but this heat is just intolerable.
