Looking for some trailing MG seeds .. I have Shidare and the Sunsmiles. Those are the only two I know about. Are there any others? I want to make some Kokedama using trailing MG's. Instead of using moss that can't tolerate the sun I thought I'd use leaf litter or pine straw to wrap the ball.

What about using coir? Are you planning to have these indoors? Seems like watering could be dicey.

Coir would be prefect! Thanks for the idea! I'll keep them outside in full sun - at least in the morning. Some of the soil in my back yard is marl with more than usual clay. I'm thinking if I surround the mud ball with some of the marl, it would help with water retention to some degree. Otherwise I can just stick the whole thing in a bucket of water every couple of days if it starts looking parched.

Anne I don't know of any other trailing types of MG but maybe you can do a bonsai type out of the yellow leaved ones. That would keep them smaller and more compact and maybe give the illusion of trailing.

That's definitely a good idea .. I've got a window box full of seedlings that I can practice pruning on.

Yellow leaf mutant is recommended for bonsai style stem pruned plants.
